Biking Adventures [in pics]: Downtown Los Angeles + Cyclavia

We went on a bike trip to Downtown Los Angeles for Cyclavia. I think this was sometime last year. Here a few pictures I took on our way to the main event.
We saw a local farmers market in the middle of Downtown Los Angeles. I don't know why this seems a little funny and weird to me lol, but one of the vendors said they are there every Sunday. The honey and berries we bought from them were so sweet and yummy. After that we stopped by a fun and quirky bookstore that was on the same street of the farmers market. The bookstore was called The Last Bookstore, which seems to be an appropriate name (these days). It was too bad my camera decided to suddenly stop functioning for a while so I was unable to take any pictures of the inside. Anyway, then we finally made it to Cyclavia...i think we got lost in a cycling race that was also going on that day in DTLA lol. That was funny.

So close, yet so far away...
 C'est mon cruiser bike!

 Los Angeles City Hall, sir.

 Which way home?
Green bike lanes! I like the way they look.
 Getting closer!
 Farmers Market time. Yums.
The inside of this place (The Last Bookstore) is way cool, if you're ever in town you should definitely stop by.
Wilshire much?
Bikes! Seeing so many bikes in place of cars is the best.
 Free rock climbing for everyone!
 Pretty buildings.
 My ride, ooh yeahhh...
 Thats all folks.

For Delicious Crêpes... Head to Crêpe Love!

If you are looking for a place to have some delicious crepes try Crepe Love. Crepe Love is a small place in Alhambra that serves up some delicious crepes. It is located in the shopping center on the corner of Valley and Garfield in Alhambra, CA. The cool thing about Crepe Love is that you can also make your own crazy creative crepes from the available ingredients. My favorite is getting a crepe with  Nutella, strawberries and whip cream. It helps that they are pretty generous with the Nutella unlike other places where its just a small drizzle. Can't beat that! So create your own crepe, choose an entrée crepe, have a sandwich, or grab a snack form the snack bar. Enjoy!

The entrance area... check out the ceiling, pretty!

This is like a sample of the crepes you can make... Cute!

The main area which is where you order.

Isn't it pretty! To the right is a big window that looks out to the main street (Valley).

You get to see how they make them...its hypnotizing, haha.

Too yummy! Under the whip cream there are MORE strawberries. Mmmm... now i want one!

A teriyaki crepe!

Menu, cash only!

If you are in the Los Angeles-Alhambra area, you must stop at Crepe Love for a crepe. I definitely recommend the Nutella-Strawberry crepe with whip cream :)

App Review: Calm

Calm is a free meditation and relaxation app for the iPhone/iPod. I think it's great because it works for me! Sometimes when I can't sleep, I'll play one of the programs for a 15-30 minutes and it helps my brain wind down so that I can sleep. You have the option of guided meditation/relaxation, nature sounds, and/or relaxing music. I usually do 'guided' because it walks you through breathing or mindset adjustment. Also, it helps that I like the voice of the lady doing the narrating, its very soothing and neutral. Is it weird to say that it sounds like she cares, lol? Yes? Ok, never mind that :)

Have a look…

This is what you open up to. Touch on the bottom circle with the horizontal lines.

These are the programs they have. The first 2 programs are free. As with many other apps, you can purchase a subscription for the ones that are locked. Subscriptions range from 3 months ($4.99), 6 months ($6.99) and a year ($9.99).

I've used this app for a while now (maybe a year) and have not felt the need to purchase a subscription :)
Of course its up to you and your budgets.

The 7 Steps of Calm program (no subscription required) has 7 mini "lessons" that are each around 5-7 minutes long. I'll play one of them and its enough to send me on a happy sleeping trail :)

The Calm program (no subscription required) is just one "lesson" enough to send me on a cloud of sweet dreams :D

The timer section allows you to choose how many minutes to play your relaxing sounds (nature or relaxing music). This is just to time yourself but the app will not turn off after those minutes have ended unless you have it on "Sleep Mode."

The activity section just shows you a list of what programs or timer sessions you have done.

The following are examples of only SOME of the different nature sounds it has. There are also some that are relaxing music only.

And that's pretty much it :)

Make it Happen..

It's midweek and here is a teeny tiny message of encouragement from moi (= me).
If you had a crappy start this week try brushing it off and carry on.

Don't give up and try harder, someone told me it gets better :)

Ps. Found the "make it happen" square on Pinterest! Then I added a background and things to jazz it up a bit :)

Cheery cheers!

App Review [in pictures]: PicStitch

PicStitch app review in pictures! PicStitch is a photo editor and collage maker. I've had this iPhone app in my phone for a while but did not use it much. Not sure why. But in doing my last post, I thought it would be cool to make the title picture for it using PicStich (i also used Typic). I really liked this app because i think you can do a lot with it. Its fun and free :) If you check it out, let me know how it worked for ya.

These are most of the things you can do with PicStich shown in pictures.

Layout: About 74 different layouts plus more to unlock.
Aspect: this is where you choose the dimension of your project
Resize: where you can change the size of each box in the frame.
Export: export it to different medias like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Path, Email, Photo Album and more.

This app allows you to edit each picture you add. In summary, those features include the following:

Enhance, effects (see below), frames (see below for more) stickers (see below)…

Focus (see below), orientation, crop…

Adjust, fix sharpness, splash (see below), draw (see below), add text…

Fix redeye, whiten (for yellow teeth i suppose), cover blemishes…

And add meme (see below)

+ + +

Effects: Cute effects (and can purchase more)

Frames: There are different categories of frames and you can also purchase more.

Focus: you can focus on one part of the picture.

Stickers: As with the frames, there are different categories
of stickers to chose from and you can also purchase more.

(left) Splash: this is cool because it makes the picture black and white then you can touch the areas you want to have color on. It lets you "free color" whatever u want or " "smart color" to try to select what it thinks you want to add color to.

(right) Draw: use your finger to draw or add text. Choose color and thickness of "marker"

Meme: add text like this, one line will appear
at the top and the other line at bottom

'Tis all!
Sooo…. what do you think?
